AI notetaker vs live call coach
A notetaker writes the call down for later. A coach helps while you’re still talking. Most tools do the first. A few now try the second.
What a notetaker does
A notetaker records, transcribes and summarises the call, so you can stay in the conversation and catch up afterwards. Most tools on this page are notetakers first.
What live help can look like
Some tools answer when you ask: Cluely uses your screen and the conversation, Fireflies Live Assist answers questions and pulls from a sales knowledge base, and Granola and Jamie let you chat about the meeting. Otter lists call objectives and live coaching on its Enterprise plan.
How Aside does it
Aside starts from what you want out of the call. Beforehand, you write a few goals and the answers you want on hand. During it, the goals fill in as you cover them, one short line suggests your next move, and your own answer appears when the topic comes up. You don’t have to ask.
When you don’t want it
Guidance is optional. Turn it off and Aside is a notetaker: a small recording light, notes from any app, a transcript made on your Mac and, on the paid plan, a write-up when you hang up.

Will guidance distract me?
It’s one small pill under your camera. Goals are dots, the next move is one line, and an answer card appears only when the topic comes up.
Do I need a plan for every call?
No. A plan is optional. Without one, Aside records, takes notes and writes the transcript.
